1. Your 14-day statutory right to withdraw
Under Directive 2011/83/EU (Consumer Rights Directive) and its Romanian transposition (OUG 34/2014), EU consumers have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 calendar days of purchase, without penalty and without stating a reason.
2. Digital-services carve-out
Deutsch-Landia delivers digital services (online lessons, exercises, stories, vocabulary, interactive games). Under Art. 16(m) of the Directive, the right to withdraw does not apply where:
- you expressly consented to the service starting before the 14-day window expired, and
- you acknowledged you would lose your right to withdraw once the content was delivered.
At checkout, by ticking the “I agree to start using the service immediately” box, you accept these conditions.
3. Our policy — more generous than the law
Even though the law lets us decline a refund after you start using the platform, we offer full pro-rata refunds under the following conditions:
- First 14 days: 100% refund on request, no reason required, regardless of usage.
- Monthly plan cancellation: auto-renewal stops; access continues until the end of the already-paid period.
- Annual plan cancellation after 14 days: pro-rata refund for unused months, minus months already consumed at the monthly rate.
- Major technical problems: if the platform is down for more than 7 consecutive days due to our fault, we issue a full refund for that month.
4. How to request a refund
Email contact@deutsch-landia.com with:
- The email address you registered with
- The purchase date
- The reason (optional during the 14-day window)
We respond within 5 business days. Funds are returned to the card you paid with (Stripe processes refunds in 5-10 banking days depending on your bank).
5. Out-of-court dispute resolution
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate via:
- RO · ANPC · ADR (Romanian Consumer Protection Authority, Alternative Dispute Resolution): anpc.ro/ce-este-sal
- Competent courts in Romania.
6. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to update this policy. Any change will be published on this page with the update date. Changes do not apply retroactively to purchases already made.
