Word Formation II — Separable Prefixes
Separable verbs with prefixes systematically change the meaning of the base verb. B2: all important prefixes and their semantic layers.
How the rule begins
Trennbare Präfixe are split off from the verb when it is conjugated and moved to the end of the sentence. In the infinitive, in the Partizip II (past participle) and in a subordinate clause they stay attached. This is a central feature of German grammar.
