Adjectives Used as Nouns
Adjectives and participles can be used as nouns in German — they are capitalized and declined like regular adjectives according to the article type and case.
How the rule begins
In German, any adjective or participle can become a noun. These are written with a capital letter and take the adjective endings required by the declension pattern (strong, weak or mixed), exactly like any attributive adjective.
